Sitting in the airport,
Surrounded by the hustle and bustle
Waiting at the gate
Isolated with my thoughts
I think of our insignificance again.
It’s a consistent thought,
One that comes like a thief in the night
Except it can be at any time
Mostly in silence.
While I know where I must be,
Getting from existential dread
To acceptance of our small blip in the universe
Is a long road I am still just beginning
Just as “it’s been a long road
Getting from there to here
It’s been a long time
But that time is finally near”*
Luckily, the anxiety doesn’t rise
Except from the burdens of travel
Waiting in the lines
Waiting at the gates
So much waiting
So here I sit
Alone in my thoughts
With few that can understand
And fewer still that can help the process.
